| 1 | AN ACT concerning nursing home residents' rights.
| ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
| 4 | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the | ||||||
| 5 | Nursing Home Residents' Managed Care Rights Act.
| ||||||
| 6 | Section 5. Findings.
The General Assembly finds that | ||||||
| 7 | elderly Illinoisans residing in nursing homes have the right | ||||||
| 8 | to:
| ||||||
| 9 | (1) Quality health care regardless of the payer.
| ||||||
| 10 | (2) Care prescribed by their doctor.
| ||||||
| 11 | (3) A simple appeals process when care is denied.
| ||||||
| 12 | (4) Make decisions about their care.
| ||||||
| 13 | (5) Continue to live in the care center they call home.
| ||||||
| 14 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
| 15 | becoming law.
