Amends the Fair Patient Billing Act. Provides that a hospital shall not pursue legal action for non-payment of a hospital bill against any patient who is actively making payments on the hospital bill.

1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Fair Patient Billing Act is amended by
5changing Section 35 as follows:
6 (210 ILCS 88/35)
7 Sec. 35. Collection limitations. The hospital shall not
8pursue legal action:
9 (1) for non-payment of a hospital bill against
10 uninsured patients who have clearly demonstrated that they
11 have neither sufficient income nor assets to meet their
12 financial obligations provided the patient has complied
13 with Section 45 of this Act; or .
14 (2) for non-payment of a hospital bill against any
15 patient who is actively making payments on the hospital
16 bill.
