Bill Title: Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Provides that the Governor shall annually designate by official proclamation the day before (currently, after) Gold Star Mothers' Day as Gold Star Family Day to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor and commemorate the families of men and women who gave their lives while serving with the armed forces of the United States in time of war or during a period of hostilities. Effective immediately.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by | ||||||
5 | changing Section 50 as follows:

7 | Sec. 50. Gold Star Days. | ||||||
8 | (a) The Governor shall annually designate by
official | ||||||
9 | proclamation the last Sunday in September as Gold Star Mothers' | ||||||
10 | Day
to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor and | ||||||
11 | commemorate the mothers of men and women who
gave their lives | ||||||
12 | while serving with the armed forces of the United States
in | ||||||
13 | time of war or during a period of hostilities.
