1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Pharmacy Practice Act is amended by changing
5Section 8 as follows:
6 (225 ILCS 85/8) (from Ch. 111, par. 4128)
7 (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2018)
8 Sec. 8. Licensure by endorsement; emergency licensure. The
9The Department may, in its discretion, license as a pharmacist,
10without examination, on payment of the required fee, an
11applicant who is so licensed under the laws of another U.S.
12jurisdiction or another country, if the requirements for
13licensure in the other jurisdiction in which the applicant was
14licensed, were, at the date of his or her licensure deemed by
15the Board to be substantially equivalent to the requirements
16then in force in this State.
17 A person holding an active, unencumbered license in good
18standing in another jurisdiction who applies for a license
19pursuant to Section 7 of this Act due to a natural disaster or
20catastrophic event in another jurisdiction may be temporarily
21authorized by the Secretary to practice pharmacy pending the
22issuance of the license. This temporary authorization shall
23expire upon issuance of the license or upon notification that

1the Department has denied licensure.
2 Upon a declared Executive Order due to an emergency caused
3by a natural or manmade disaster or any other exceptional
4situation that causes an extraordinary demand for pharmacist
5services, the Department may issue a pharmacist who holds a
6license to practice pharmacy in another state an emergency
7license to practice in this State.
