2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to honor our
esteemed colleague, | ||||||
4 | State Representative Pamela Reaves-Harris, on her service as a | ||||||
5 | member of
the Illinois General Assembly and thank her for her | ||||||
6 | dedicated service to the State and the people
of the 10th | ||||||
7 | Representative District; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Representative Reaves-Harris was born and raised | ||||||
9 | in Chicago's Cabrini Green
public housing development; she is | ||||||
10 | the youngest of eight children and the proud mother of two
| ||||||
11 | daughters; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Representative Reaves-Harris graduated from the | ||||||
13 | Chicago Public School system;
she received a Bachelor of | ||||||
14 | Science with a dual major in marketing and economics from
the | ||||||
15 | University of Illinois; she earned a law degree from IIT | ||||||
16 | Chicago-Kent College of Law; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Representative Reaves-Harris has dedicated her | ||||||
18 | life to giving back to the
community, serving more than 22 | ||||||
19 | years as a licensed attorney; she worked more than 15 years as
| ||||||
20 | an Administrative Law Judge and provided free legal services to | ||||||
21 | those in need; and

1 | WHEREAS, Representative Reaves-Harris has been a fierce | ||||||
2 | and passionate advocate for
criminal justice reform through her | ||||||
3 | efforts to reduce crime and recidivism and keep our
communities | ||||||
4 | safe; she championed legislation to help persons who suffer | ||||||
5 | from serious mental
illnesses receive the proper treatment, and | ||||||
6 | fought to increase penalties for firearms dealers who
sell guns | ||||||
7 | to suspected terrorists; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Representative Reaves-Harris fought for the | ||||||
9 | health and well-being of her
constituents by working to bring a | ||||||
10 | new medical emergency treatment center to Humboldt Park; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, All who have served alongside Representative | ||||||
12 | Reaves-Harris will miss her warm
friendship and unwavering | ||||||
13 | commitment to advocating for the issues important to her
| ||||||
14 | constituents; therefore, be it
| ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
16 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
17 | honor and thank State
Representative Pamela Reaves-Harris for | ||||||
18 | her dedicated service; and be it further
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to Representative Reaves-Harris
as an expression of | ||||||
21 | our respect and esteem, and with our best wishes for her future
| ||||||
22 | success.
