HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to recognize the 27th Annual Black & Gold
Scholarship Gala presented by the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable
Foundation, a not-for-profit entity of the Theta Mu Lambda
Chapter - Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, This event raises funds in order to continue
providing educational resources and scholarships for young
African American students to expand their scholastic
opportunities; and
WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Alpha firmly believes in creating
resources, leadership skills, and tools for youth to realize
their full potential and is dedicated to building a foundation
for the educational and personal development of future leaders;
and
WHEREAS, This year's program theme is "Celebrating
Service, Awareness, and Leadership"; four community leaders
will be honored with the Impact Award for their work with youth
and four young people will be honored with the Rising Star
Award; and
WHEREAS, The gala will be held on November 12, 2016 at the

Tinley Park Convention Center; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
recognize the 27th Annual Black & Gold Scholarship Gala and we
wish them many more years of success; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation as an
expression of our esteem and respect.
