HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Arnie Diedrich on
4receiving the "2016 Most Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator
5Award" from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers;
6and
7 WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich organized and hosted his first
8blood drive in 2003 on behalf of St. John the Baptist Catholic
9Church Knights of Columbus Council 9167 in Johnsburg; and
10 WHEREAS, Under Arnie Diedrich's leadership, the blood
11drives have expanded to quarterly community events and the
12number of units collected at each drive as doubled; and
13 WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich's efforts have resulted in the
14collection of over 4500 units of blood, which have the
15potential to save over 13,000 lives; and
16 WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich not only recruits donors, but he
17has also donated 55 pints of blood and donated double red blood
18cells 18 times, which have the potential to save 275 lives; and
19 WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich works tirelessly, along with his
20wife, to promote the blood drives in his community through

1personal phone calls, social media, speeches to church
2congregations and business groups, and partnering with other
3charitable organizations; and
4 WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich's grandchildren often provide
5musical entertainment for donors; and
6 WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich displays his theatrical talents
7during the holiday seasons by taking on the role of "Santa
8Arnie" at the Christmas drive, where donors are also treated to
9a pancake breakfast; and
10 WHEREAS, In 2016, the Heartland Blood Centers nominated
11Arnie Diedrich as the "Most Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator"
12in a statewide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of
13Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it
14 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16commend Arnie Diedrich for his commitment to insuring a healthy
17blood supply in his community; and be it further
18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Arnie Diedrich as an expression of our esteem and
20respect.
