| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Arnie
Diedrich on | ||||||
| 4 | receiving the "2016 Most Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator | ||||||
| 5 | Award" from the Illinois
Coalition of Community Blood Centers; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich organized and hosted his first | ||||||
| 8 | blood drive in 2003 on behalf of St. John the
Baptist Catholic | ||||||
| 9 | Church Knights of Columbus Council 9167 in Johnsburg; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Under Arnie Diedrich's leadership, the blood | ||||||
| 11 | drives have expanded to quarterly community events and the | ||||||
| 12 | number
of units collected at each drive as doubled; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich's efforts have resulted in the | ||||||
| 14 | collection of over 4500 units of blood, which
have the | ||||||
| 15 | potential to save over 13,000 lives; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich not only recruits donors, but he | ||||||
| 17 | has also donated 55 pints of blood and
donated double red blood | ||||||
| 18 | cells 18 times, which have the potential to save 275 lives; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich works tirelessly, along with his | ||||||
| 20 | wife, to promote the blood drives in his community
through | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | personal phone calls, social media, speeches to church | ||||||
| 2 | congregations and business groups,
and partnering with other | ||||||
| 3 | charitable organizations; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich's grandchildren often provide | ||||||
| 5 | musical entertainment for donors; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Arnie Diedrich displays his theatrical talents | ||||||
| 7 | during the holiday seasons by taking on the role
of "Santa | ||||||
| 8 | Arnie" at the Christmas drive, where donors are also treated to | ||||||
| 9 | a pancake breakfast; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, In 2016, the Heartland Blood Centers nominated | ||||||
| 11 | Arnie Diedrich as the "Most Innovative
Blood Drive Coordinator" | ||||||
| 12 | in a statewide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of | ||||||
| 13 | Community
Blood Centers; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 15 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 16 | commend Arnie Diedrich for his commitment to insuring a healthy | ||||||
| 17 | blood supply in his community; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to Arnie Diedrich as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 20 | respect.
