2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the passing of James | ||||||
4 | Robert Lilly, affectionately known as "Smokey", "Coach Lilly", | ||||||
5 | "David", and "JR", who passed away on June 14, 2016; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, James Lilly was born on February 17, 1953; his | ||||||
7 | parents were Evelyn C. McGrew and James Oliver Lilly; he met | ||||||
8 | his beautiful wife Wilma in 1971, they were married September | ||||||
9 | 3, 1977; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, James Lilly was raised in Chicago; he attended and | ||||||
11 | graduated from Lindblom High School and became a founding | ||||||
12 | member of the Lindblom High School "Crunch Bunch" in 1980; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, James Lilly earned his Master of Administration at | ||||||
14 | Loyola University and was a member of the Chicago Wine Psi Phi | ||||||
15 | Social Fraternity; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, James Lilly served as a City of Chicago police | ||||||
17 | officer and detective for 35 years until his retirement on | ||||||
18 | April 15, 2013; he also served as a Field Training Officer, | ||||||
19 | worked in personnel, and taught at the police academy; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, James Lilly began coaching football at Simeon High |

1 | School in 1978; he went on to coach football, basketball, and | ||||||
2 | track at many schools, including Perspective Charter School, | ||||||
3 | Calumet High School, Morgan Park, Bogan High School, Chicago | ||||||
4 | High School for Agricultural Sciences, and Seton Academy, for | ||||||
5 | many years until his passing; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, James Lilly was preceded in death by his sister, | ||||||
7 | Sandra Lilly-Bennett; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, James Lilly is survived by his beautiful wife of | ||||||
9 | 38 years, Wilma Lilly; his daughter, Audrina Lilly-Gantt (Tim); | ||||||
10 | Angela Driver; his grandchildren, William Hilliard and Keyuana | ||||||
11 | Hilliard; his great-grandchild, Brandon Jones; his sister, | ||||||
12 | Michelle Lilly-Briscoe (Lloyd); his brother, Terrance Oliver | ||||||
13 | Lilly-Grambling; his sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; | ||||||
14 | and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, other | ||||||
15 | family members, and friends; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
17 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
18 | we, along with all who knew and loved him, mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | James Robert Lilly and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
20 | family and friends; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of James Lilly as an expression of our |
