2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Oak School in Community | ||||||
4 | Consolidated School District 181 on receiving the 2014 National | ||||||
5 | Blue Ribbon Schools Award from the United States Department of | ||||||
6 | Education for academic excellence; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Oak School is one of 287 public schools in the | ||||||
8 | nation to receive the award in 2014, and one of only 13 in the | ||||||
9 | State; it is the fifth of 9 schools in District 181 to receive | ||||||
10 | the award, joining Clarendon Hills Middle School in 2009, | ||||||
11 | Hinsdale Middle School in 2009, Madison School in 2009, and The | ||||||
12 | Lane School in 2011; and

13 | WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program | ||||||
14 | recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high | ||||||
15 | schools where students perform at very high levels or where | ||||||
16 | significant improvements are being made in students' academic | ||||||
17 | achievement; and

18 | WHEREAS, The news of Oak School's award was shared with | ||||||
19 | students and staff by Principal Martha Henrikson and former | ||||||
20 | Principal Sean Walsh, who, according to Principal Henrikson, | ||||||
21 | has fostered a culture of collaboration among teachers at the | ||||||
22 | school; and

1 | WHEREAS, The Oak School community celebrated receiving the | ||||||
2 | award as part of their Walk to School Day on October 8, 2014, | ||||||
3 | and, in November, an Oak School teacher will join leaders from | ||||||
4 | recognized schools across the country in attending a ceremony | ||||||
5 | in Washington, D.C.; therefore, be it

6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
7 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
8 | we congratulate Oak School in Community Consolidated School | ||||||
9 | District 181 on receiving the 2014 National Blue Ribbon Schools | ||||||
10 | Award from the United States Department of Education and wish | ||||||
11 | them many more years of academic success; and be it further

12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
13 | presented to Oak School as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
14 | respect.
