| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sheila H. | ||||||
4 | Schultz of Wheeling; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, A Wheeling resident for more than 65 years, Sheila | ||||||
6 | Schultz was elected as a village trustee in 1979 and became the | ||||||
7 | first female village president in 1981; she served as village | ||||||
8 | president for 16 years; she led Wheeling through a number of | ||||||
9 | pivotal decisions that continue to define the village, | ||||||
10 | including the purchase of the Palwaukee Airport; she loved | ||||||
11 | Wheeling and its citizens and was the true definition of a | ||||||
12 | public servant; she worked toward a more equitable environment | ||||||
13 | for all residents, dedicating her focus to forming a human | ||||||
14 | rights commission and a senior commission;
during her tenure, | ||||||
15 | Wheeling also created its first senior center, joined | ||||||
16 | first-of-their-kind joint municipal organizations the | ||||||
17 | Northwest Water Commission and the Solid Waste Agency of | ||||||
18 | Northern Cook County, and constructed a new and modernized | ||||||
19 | Metra train station to help residents more easily commute | ||||||
20 | between the suburbs and Chicago; and

21 | WHEREAS, Sheila Schultz served as the president of the | ||||||
22 | Northwest Municipal Conference and was active in the senior | ||||||
23 | center and the historical society; she was also active with the |

1 | Northwest Water Commission and many other committees; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Sheila Schultz will be remembered as a highly | ||||||
3 | regarded leader and mentor to many; she loved her Tri Phi | ||||||
4 | friends dearly and had a true heart of service; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Sheila Schultz was the beloved wife of the late | ||||||
6 | Robert Schultz; the loving mother of Kathy (Tom Hedlin) Ryg, | ||||||
7 | Richard (Marilyn Melton) Schultz, Daniel Schultz, LeeAnn (Al) | ||||||
8 | Ali, Dirk Schultz, and the late Ted and Peter Schultz; the dear | ||||||
9 | grandmother of Jeff (Heather), Melissa (Lucas), Derek | ||||||
10 | (Jillian), Karyn (Steve), Lindsay (Eoghan), Erin (Kain), Blake | ||||||
11 | (Sheena), Alyssa (Mike), and Sophia; the great-grandmother of | ||||||
12 | Isla, Sabrina, Leah, Jack, Alice, Eleanor, Thomas, George, | ||||||
13 | Kennedy, Gavin, Griffin, Jackson, Camie, Maeve, and Hunter; the | ||||||
14 | fond sister of Lori (Ed) Schultz, the late Sally Hogan, and Tom | ||||||
15 | (Pat) Hogan; and aunt, cousin, and friend of many; therefore, | ||||||
16 | be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
18 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
19 | we mourn the passing of Sheila H. Schultz and extend our | ||||||
20 | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
21 | and loved her; and be it further

22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

1 | presented to the family of Sheila Schultz as an expression of | ||||||
