| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Fry Elementary | ||||||
| 4 | School fifth grader Katherin Smirnov on winning first place in | ||||||
| 5 | the national InvestWrite essay contest; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, InvestWrite is an innovative national essay | ||||||
| 7 | writing competition available to students in elementary | ||||||
| 8 | through high school and a culminating activity of The Stock | ||||||
| 9 | Market Game program; the SIFMA Foundation, producers of the | ||||||
| 10 | Stock Market Game and InvestWrite, is dedicated to providing | ||||||
| 11 | financial education for people of all ages through innovative | ||||||
| 12 | programs that promote financial independence; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Entrants were instructed to describe an item they | ||||||
| 14 | wished to save for and make a presentation about saving and | ||||||
| 15 | investing in order to reach their intended goal within 10 | ||||||
| 16 | years; they could choose 2 stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, or | ||||||
| 17 | any combination and had to explain why they chose the | ||||||
| 18 | investments they did and how they did their research; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Katherin Smirnov will be presented her award at an | ||||||
| 20 | assembly at Fry Elementary School on February 20, 2014; | ||||||
| 21 | therefore, be it

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 2 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 3 | we congratulate Katherin Smirnov on winning first place in the | ||||||
| 4 | national InvestWrite essay contest and wish her the best in all | ||||||
| 5 | her future endeavors; and be it further

| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to Katherin Smirnov as an expression of our esteem | ||||||
