| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Captain Timothy J. | ||||||
4 | Becker of the Illinois State Police on his retirement; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Captain Becker will retire on February 29, 2012; | ||||||
6 | and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Timothy J. Becker began his law enforcement career | ||||||
8 | with the Menard County Sheriff's Department
in 1987; he joined | ||||||
9 | the Illinois State Police after graduating from Cadet
Class #82
| ||||||
10 | in 1988; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, His first patrol assignment upon graduation was in | ||||||
12 | Illinois State Police District #3 in Chicago; his second patrol | ||||||
13 | assignment was Illinois State Police District #9, in the
| ||||||
14 | Sangamon County area; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, While in District #9, he served on the Operation
| ||||||
16 | Valkyrie Team with his K-9, "Boozer", and served on the | ||||||
17 | Tactical Response
Team; in 1996, he transferred to the Illinois | ||||||
18 | State Police's Office of Inspection and Audits and was promoted | ||||||
19 | to Sergeant
in November; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, In 1998, he was promoted to Master Sergeant; in |

1 | 2001, he was transferred to the Illinois State Police's Office | ||||||
2 | of Governmental Affairs; in 2002, he was promoted to Lieutenant | ||||||
3 | and shortly after he was appointed
to serve as the Illinois | ||||||
4 | State Police Legislative Liaison; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, In 2005, he was promoted to Captain; in 2011, he | ||||||
6 | was appointed by Illinois State Police Director Hiram Grau to | ||||||
7 | serve as his Chief
of Staff; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, During his career with the Illinois State Police, | ||||||
9 | he also served as a Motorcycle Officer; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, While serving as the legislative liaison, Captain | ||||||
11 | Becker played an instrumental role in the passage of Public Act | ||||||
12 | 095-1009, which assisted the Illinois State Police in securing | ||||||
13 | a constant source of funding to acquire new patrol cars to | ||||||
14 | replace aging fleet squad cars; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, During his career, Captain Becker embodied the | ||||||
16 | motto of the Illinois State Police, "Integrity, Service, and | ||||||
17 | Pride", always putting the needs of the department first and | ||||||
18 | working to make the department better; therefore, be it
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
20 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
21 | we congratulate Captain Timothy Becker on his retirement and |

1 | thank him for his years of service to the people of the State | ||||||
2 | of Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
4 | presented to Captain Timothy Becker as a symbol of our respect | ||||||
5 | and esteem.
