| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Professional school counselors are employed in a | ||||||
| 3 | variety of school district settings, including private and | ||||||
| 4 | public, rural, suburban, and urban, and are involved in many | ||||||
| 5 | different organizations, including, but not limited to, the | ||||||
| 6 | Illinois School Counselor Association; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, School counselors are actively committed to | ||||||
| 8 | helping students explore their abilities, strengths, | ||||||
| 9 | interests, and talents as these traits relate to career | ||||||
| 10 | awareness and development; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, School counselors help parents focus on ways to | ||||||
| 12 | further the educational, personal, and social growth of their | ||||||
| 13 | children; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, School counselors work with teachers and other | ||||||
| 15 | educators to help students explore their potential and set | ||||||
| 16 | realistic goals for themselves; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, School counselors seek to identify and utilize | ||||||
| 18 | community resources that can enhance and complement | ||||||
| 19 | comprehensive school counseling programs and help students | ||||||
| 20 | become productive members of society; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Comprehensive developmental school counseling | ||||||
| 2 | programs are considered an integral part of the educational | ||||||
| 3 | process that enables all students to achieve success in school; | ||||||
| 4 | and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, It is appropriate that professional school | ||||||
| 6 | counselors be honored for their unmatched contribution to the | ||||||
| 7 | quality of life in the State of Illinois and our educational | ||||||
| 8 | system during a week of recognition; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 10 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 11 | we designate February 3-7, 2014 as National School Counseling | ||||||
| 12 | Week in the State of Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to the Illinois School Counselor Association as an | ||||||
| 15 | expression of our esteem and respect.
