| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Kate Page, 7th and | ||||||
| 4 | 8th grade science and social studies teacher at Alton Middle | ||||||
| 5 | School, on winning the Peabody Logos Leader in Education award; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, She received the news about the award on February | ||||||
| 8 | 7, 2012; a $1,000 check awaited her, as well as a gift basket | ||||||
| 9 | with a flip camera that records videos, along with numerous | ||||||
| 10 | smaller teacher goodies; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, She was chosen among 42 nominees for the award; | ||||||
| 12 | she plans to use the money for a new school-Drug Free Alton | ||||||
| 13 | Coalition project to revitalize Rock Spring Park, located | ||||||
| 14 | adjacent to the school; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, She also plans to teach students the proper and | ||||||
| 16 | safe way to collect paint samples from old playground equipment | ||||||
| 17 | to test for lead; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, In addition to the first award, students can go on | ||||||
| 19 | Facebook and vote for her to receive the Peabody Educator of | ||||||
| 20 | the Year award later this year; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, St. Louis-based Peabody Energy and its partner, | ||||||
| 2 | Logos School of Olivette, Missouri, developed the Leaders | ||||||
| 3 | program in 2009 to honor those who inspire students in | ||||||
| 4 | communities where Peabody employees live and work; therefore, | ||||||
| 5 | be it

| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 7 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 8 | we congratulate Kate Page and wish her the best in her future | ||||||
| 9 | endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to Kate Page as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
