HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of MoDena
4Stinnette of Winthrop Harbor, who passed away on April 26,
52024; and
6 WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette was born to Clyde Stinnette and
7Charlotte Johnson on October 09, 1969; she received her
8Bachelor of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science from National
9Louis University (Wheeling) in 2007, her Master of Business
10Administration in Organizational Development from National
11Louis University (Wheeling) in 2009, and her Ph.D. in
12Community Psychology from National Louis University (Chicago)
13in 2022; she also earned numerous certifications, including
14Peer Recovery Specialist, HIV Early Intervention, Reciprocal
15Alcohol & Drug Counselor, and Mental Illness and Substance
16Abuse; and
17 WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette worked as a research assistant
18for the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority from
192007-2010, an evaluation assistant for the University of
20Illinois Urbana Education Justice Project from 2020-2021, and
21a graduate assistant for National Louis University from
222020-2022; she served as adjunct faculty for the College of
23Lake County from 2010-2012, National Louis University

1(Chicago) from 2022-2024, and Dominican University from
22022-2024; she was a professional adjunct lecturer for
3National Louis University (Chicago) from 2023-2024; and
4 WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette's professional service included
5clinical supervisor for the Gateway Foundation from 2005-2013,
6outreach director for the Legacy Reentry Foundation from
72020-2021, program coordinator for NJRCO for 2021-2023, and
8social worker/recovery coach for the University of Illinois
9from 2020-2024; and
10 WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette presented at numerous
11conferences in her field and authored a number of articles and
12books including Inside Out in 2010; and
13 WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette was a member of the National
14Louis University Black Student Union in 2019, doctoral
15chairperson for the National Louis University Student Assembly
16in 2020, and president of the National Louis University
17Student Assembly in 2021; and
18 WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette's professional memberships
19included the Education Justice Project Reentry Guide
20Initiative, the Society for Community Research and Action,
21Live4lali (board member), the Northern Illinois Recovery
22Community Organization (committee member), the Illinois

1Alliance for Reentry and Justice, the Midwestern Psychological
2Association, the Illinois Harm Reduction Coalition, the Lake
3County Juvenile Justice Council, the Thurman Perry Foundation
4(executive board), and the Mantle Center for Health Capacity
5(executive board); and
6 WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette received numerous awards and
7recognitions during her career, including the Influential
8Woman Award in 2009, the Black Lives Matter Community
9Appreciation in 2022, the Community Service Pillar Award in
102022, and the Women of Destiny Harriet Tubman Award in 2022;
11therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of MoDena Stinnette and extend our
15sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
16and loved her; and be it further
