HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to hear of the passing of Canton
Police Department K-9 Officer Halo Vom Haus Beal, and wish to
honor her contributions to the Department and the community;
and
WHEREAS, Halo Vom Haus Beal was born on September 28, 2005;
she was assigned to Officer Matt Freehil and was trained at the
Illinois State Police K-9 Training Facility in Pawnee; and
WHEREAS, Halo became a member of the Canton Police
Department in February 2007; and
WHEREAS, While serving the Canton community, Halo helped
take thousands of drugs off the streets and made hundreds of
arrests; and
WHEREAS, Halo's fellow officers said she was small in
stature, but possessed the heart of a lion; and
WHEREAS, Halo served her Department, the City of Canton,
and the surrounding communities faithfully and courageously;
and

WHEREAS, Hallo suffered a stroke from which she never fully
recovered; she passed away on October 14, 2013 and was laid to
rest in a private ceremony; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we honor Halo Vom Haus Beal for her courage and service to our
community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Officer Matt Freehil and the Canton Police
Department as an expression of our respect and deepest
sympathies.
