| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The United States of America was founded on the | ||||||
| 3 | principles of liberty, opportunity, and justice for all; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Throughout our country's history, generations of | ||||||
| 5 | men and women have answered the call to leave their
families | ||||||
| 6 | and their jobs and put their futures and even their lives on | ||||||
| 7 | the line to valiantly defend our nation and its
inalienable | ||||||
| 8 | rights; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, For many, that sacrifice has ended in permanent | ||||||
| 10 | injury or death, yet their spirit remains in the
continued | ||||||
| 11 | preservation of our freedoms and the promise of liberty; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, America has called on her men and women in uniform | ||||||
| 13 | to protect our national security, to advance our
national | ||||||
| 14 | interests, and to preserve our rights and freedoms; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, On Veterans Day, we recognize the men and women of | ||||||
| 16 | our Armed Forces past and present, who have
valiantly defended | ||||||
| 17 | these values throughout our nation's history; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, On Veterans Day, we also remember and pay tribute | ||||||
| 19 | to the millions of patriots whose courage and
sacrifice have | ||||||
| 20 | secured our freedom, from those who suffered through the harsh | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | winter at Valley Forge
to those who are keeping the peace and | ||||||
| 2 | defending our values around the globe today; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, We honor all men and women currently serving in | ||||||
| 4 | the military for their sacrifices; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, We owe a debt of gratitude to our veterans and | ||||||
| 6 | wish to express our appreciation to all of our veterans
for | ||||||
| 7 | their selfless service to this State and the United States; | ||||||
| 8 | therefore, be it

| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 10 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 11 | we recognize all veterans and the men and women who are | ||||||
| 12 | currently serving in our Armed Forces around the world.
