HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Greater Centralia
4Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of its 100th anniversary;
5and
6 WHEREAS, On May 9, 1924, the Greater Centralia Chamber of
7Commerce (the Chamber) was founded by a group of community
8members under the leadership of Reverend F.O. Fannon, who
9served as its first president, during a period of economic
10growth as a result of Centralia's successful railroad and coal
11mine industries; the organization was originally formed with
12the aim of promoting business, tourism, and commerce to
13benefit the community of Centralia; and
14 WHEREAS, Since its creation, the Chamber has carried out
15its mission as a recognized, leading organization for its
16members and the community through stimulating a healthy
17business climate by providing programs and services to
18strengthen the community and to directly benefit its members
19and enhance their respective business' success; and
20 WHEREAS, The Chamber has expanded beyond Centralia in the
21State of Illinois, encompassing the counties of Marion,
22Clinton, Jefferson, and Washington and including the cities of

1Centralia, Central City, Wamac, Carlyle, Dix, Greenville,
2Highland, Hoffman, Irvington, Mt. Vernon, Odin, Salem,
3Sandoval, and Walnut Hill, among others; and
4 WHEREAS, The Chamber consists of more than 300 members,
5including locally owned businesses, home-based businesses,
6corporate retail and industrial operations, hospitals,
7financial institutions, and manufacturers, and partners with
8local municipalities, schools, and civic organizations to
9achieve its purpose of serving its members and the community;
10and
11 WHEREAS, The Chamber, in collaboration with its partners,
12provides information and sponsors social and educational
13events for its members and the community; the organization
14works with each member to achieve their individual needs and
15goals of success, and it also actively supports regional
16growth and community development; and
17 WHEREAS, In addition to its purpose, the Chamber prides
18itself on building relationships and improving communication
19with and between its members, whilst resolving members'
20legislative and political issues with integrity and diplomacy
21in line with the best interests of the business climate of the
22community; and

1 WHEREAS, The Chamber's celebration of its 100-year
2anniversary serves as a testament to its immeasurable impact,
3support, and invaluable contributions to its members,
4community, and the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce (the
8Chamber) on achieving its 100-year anniversary; and be it
9further
10 RESOLVED, That we commend the Chamber and its employees,
11members, and partners for their remarkable achievements and
12invaluable contributions to the State of Illinois over the
