| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize the Silverleaf "Let's Go Ag!" | ||||||
| 4 | 4-H Club's 100th anniversary; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The club's first leader was Ferdinand Basting, | ||||||
| 6 | followed by Glen Rader, Gordon Ropp, Roberta Ropp, and
Diana | ||||||
| 7 | Ropp; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Over the last century, members of the club have | ||||||
| 9 | done a variety of service projects to benefit the Central
| ||||||
| 10 | Illinois area such as participating in Adopt A Highway in | ||||||
| 11 | Central Illinois and Adopt A School in Chicago,
visiting | ||||||
| 12 | nursing home residents at Christmas and providing homemade | ||||||
| 13 | holiday cards, providing bottled
water at the Tri-Shark | ||||||
| 14 | Triathlon, maintaining planters on the grounds of the McLean | ||||||
| 15 | County
Museum of History, and sponsoring blood drives for the | ||||||
| 16 | American Red Cross of the Heartland; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Each year, the club participates in the McLean | ||||||
| 18 | County Fair; over the years, six members of the club have
been | ||||||
| 19 | crowned royalty at the fair; members participate in an ice | ||||||
| 20 | cream sundae booth and "Share the
Fun" skits at the fair; | ||||||
| 21 | "Let's Go Ag!" has won the State 4-H Softball Championship; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Several club members have had significant | ||||||
| 2 | successes, being chosen for leadership in a variety of areas;
| ||||||
| 3 | members have served as international youth exchange students | ||||||
| 4 | and attended the National 4-H
Congress and Club Camp in | ||||||
| 5 | Washington, D.C.; as adults, several former members been | ||||||
| 6 | appointed as
members of the McLean County Farm Bureau Board of | ||||||
| 7 | Directors; one former member has served as the
Director of the | ||||||
| 8 | Illinois Department of Agriculture, and other former members | ||||||
| 9 | have held key leadership
roles in Bloomington Normal Rotary | ||||||
| 10 | Clubs, including serving as Governor of District 6490; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The anniversary will be celebrated with shared | ||||||
| 12 | memories, ice
cream, pie, and cake on the afternoon of July 8, | ||||||
| 13 | 2017 at the McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington; | ||||||
| 14 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 16 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 17 | recognize the Silverleaf "Let's Go Ag!" 4-H Club's 100th | ||||||
| 18 | anniversary, and we wish them many more successful years; and | ||||||
| 19 | be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the Silverleaf "Let's Go Ag!" 4-H Club as a symbol | ||||||
| 22 | of our respect and esteem.
