2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to commend Sister Nancy Ulrich for her | ||||||
4 | more than 60 years of ministering to others and especially her | ||||||
5 | service to the Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Aurora for | ||||||
6 | the past 50 years; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Sister Nancy Ulrich was raised in Naperville; she | ||||||
8 | was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis in 1956; | ||||||
9 | she earned her bachelor's degree from Alverno College in | ||||||
10 | Milwaukee, Wisconsin and her master's degree from Mundelein | ||||||
11 | College in Chicago; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Sister Nancy Ulrich began her career as a teacher | ||||||
13 | and church organist at three other parish schools in Wisconsin | ||||||
14 | and Illinois in 1958, where she primarily taught fourth grade; | ||||||
15 | she came to Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Aurora to teach | ||||||
16 | seventh and eighth grade Language Arts in 1971; she became a | ||||||
17 | part of the CCD program and the music ministry, where she | ||||||
18 | served as an organist at many Masses; she became department | ||||||
19 | head of the upper grades of the school; she ascended to the | ||||||
20 | assistant principal position and then principal of Our Lady of | ||||||
21 | Good Counsel School; she retired as principal in 1999; and

22 | WHEREAS, Sister Nancy Ulrich became the director of |

1 | Religious Education at St. Irene's Catholic Church in | ||||||
2 | Warrenville in 2000, where she served for 17 years; during her | ||||||
3 | tenure, she helped other ministries, such as providing | ||||||
4 | sacramental preparation for children; she also participated in | ||||||
5 | a religious sabbatical in San Antonio, Texas; she retired in | ||||||
6 | 2017; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, In retirement, Sister Nancy Ulrich has remained | ||||||
8 | active in many of the parish ministries, including baptismal | ||||||
9 | preparation, helping the sacristans with their duties, and | ||||||
10 | singing in the choir; she has also served as a volunteer | ||||||
11 | English as a Second Language tutor at the Dominican Literacy | ||||||
12 | Center in Aurora; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Sister Nancy Ulrich will be moving to the Sacred | ||||||
14 | Heart Convent in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; therefore, be it
| ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
16 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
17 | we commend Sister Nancy Ulrich on her more than 60 years of | ||||||
18 | ministering to others, including her 50 years of service to | ||||||
19 | the Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Aurora, and we recognize | ||||||
20 | her commitment and dedication to the parishioners and | ||||||
21 | students; and be it further

22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
