2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to commend retired Fire Chief Robert Buck | ||||||
4 | for serving the Iroquois and Shelby Counties with dedication | ||||||
5 | and commitment while demonstrating public service and love of | ||||||
6 | community; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Robert Buck began his career at the Sheldon Fire | ||||||
8 | District in 1980, where he became an EMT in 1984 and worked on | ||||||
9 | the Township 8 Ambulance for the Iroquois Memorial Hospital; | ||||||
10 | he later became an EMT-Intermediate and a Firefighter 2; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Robert Buck served as the president of the | ||||||
12 | Eastern Illinois Mutual Fire Aid from 1988 to 1992; during his | ||||||
13 | tenure, he became a firefighter with the Watseka Fire | ||||||
14 | Department, where he helped battle three major fires and | ||||||
15 | assisted countless community members; and

16 | WHEREAS, Robert Buck moved with this wife, Rhonda, to | ||||||
17 | Shelby County to be closer to family in 2000; his move also | ||||||
18 | marked the beginning of his firefighting career in Findlay, | ||||||
19 | where he became the fire and ambulance chief in 2003; in this | ||||||
20 | role, he was known as a mentor, friend, and leader; he also | ||||||
21 | helped start the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Division | ||||||
22 | 64, where he served as president; and

1 | WHEREAS, Robert Buck retired from his post as fire chief | ||||||
2 | in 2018; he served as the trustee president of the Fire | ||||||
3 | District, while he still answered calls as a firefighter, | ||||||
4 | until his retirement in 2020; and

5 | WHEREAS, In retirement, Robert Buck enjoys boating and | ||||||
6 | spending time with his wife, his three children, his seven | ||||||
7 | grandchildren, and his 15 great-grandchildren; therefore, be | ||||||
8 | it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
10 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
11 | we commend retired Fire Chief Robert Buck on his decades of | ||||||
12 | public service and wish him the best in his future endeavors; | ||||||
13 | and be it further

14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to Robert Buck as an expression of our appreciation | ||||||
16 | for his years of hard work in his community.
