HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are pleased to congratulate University of
Illinois Champaign-Urbana sophomore, Jesse Delgado, on winning
the 125 pound 2013 NCAA Division I wrestling championship; and
WHEREAS, Jesse Delgado won the Big Ten and NCAA
championships for the University of Illinois on March 23, 2013;
he is the first University of Illinois wrestler to be named
national champion at his weight class and the first wrestler at
any weight from the school to win a national championship since
2003; and
WHEREAS, Jesse Delgado finished the 2012-2013 season with a
27-3 record and an overall career record of 61-11 and is a
2-time All-America recipient; and
WHEREAS, Jesse Delgado is a graduate of Gilroy High School
in Gilroy, California, where he was a 4-time Central Coast
Section champion; he attended California Polytechnic State
University before transferring to the University of Illinois;
and
WHEREAS, Jesse Delgado was born on August 26, 1992, to
Jesus Delgado and Elizabeth Lopez and has a younger brother,

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we congratulate Jesse Delgado on winning the 125 pound 2013
NCAA Division I wrestling championship; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Jesse Delgado as an expression of our esteem and
respect.
