Bill Title: Congratulates the members of the Lincoln Middle School Century Strikers team on their success in winning the FIRST LEGO League State Championship and wishes the team success as it represents our great State and competes in this year's FIRST LEGO League World Championships.

2 | WHEREAS, The organization "For Inspiration and Recognition | ||||||
3 | of Science and Technology (FIRST)" was founded by the inventor, | ||||||
4 | entrepreneur, and tireless advocate for science and | ||||||
5 | technology, Dean Kamen; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, FIRST is an organization dedicated to motivating | ||||||
7 | the next generation to understand, use, and enjoy science and | ||||||
8 | technology; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, The internationally-known LEGO Company entered an | ||||||
10 | alliance with FIRST to form the FIRST LEGO League | ||||||
11 | International; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, The FIRST LEGO League is an international program | ||||||
13 | for children which combines a hands-on, interactive robotics | ||||||
14 | program with a sports-like atmosphere; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, The FIRST LEGO League International introduces | ||||||
16 | children in elementary and middle schools around the world to | ||||||
17 | the fun and experience of solving real-world problems by | ||||||
18 | applying math, science, and technology; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, The Mount Prospect Lincoln Middle School FIRST | ||||||
20 | LEGO League team, known as the "Century Strikers", designed, |

1 | built, and programmed an autonomous robot out of LEGO products; | ||||||
2 | and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, The Lincoln Middle School Century Strikers | ||||||
4 | advanced through the Region "B" State Qualifying Tournament by | ||||||
5 | having the top score of 370 points; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The Lincoln Middle School Century Strikers went on | ||||||
7 | to win the Illinois Championship Tournament, being judged the | ||||||
8 | most outstanding team in the State from a field of 362 teams; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, The Lincoln Middle School Century Strikers will be | ||||||
11 | representing the State of Illinois at the FIRST LEGO League | ||||||
12 | World Festival in St. Louis and will be competing against 84 of | ||||||
13 | the best teams from around the world; therefore, be it
| ||||||
14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
15 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
16 | we congratulate the members of the Lincoln Middle School | ||||||
17 | Century Strikers team on their success in winning the FIRST | ||||||
18 | LEGO League State Championship; and be it further

19 | RESOLVED, That we wish the team much continued success as | ||||||
20 | it represents our great State and competes in this year's FIRST | ||||||
