Bill Title: Encourages all school districts in this State to establish educational programs to inform parents about the dangers of serving alcohol to minors and the prohibition on serving alcohol to minors and the punishment for a violation of the prohibition. Encourages all parents and minor children in this State to participate in the educational programs established by school districts concerning the dangers of serving alcohol to minors.

HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Alcohol is the most commonly used and abused drug
3among youth in the United States; and
4 WHEREAS, Alcohol use by persons under the age of 21 is a
5major public health problem; and
6 WHEREAS, Underage alcohol abuse is associated with school
7problems, such as higher absence and poor or failing grades;
8and
9 WHEREAS, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has
10found that reducing underage drinking will require
11community-based efforts to monitor the activities of youth and
12decrease youth access to alcohol; and
13 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representative is committed
14to the education and protection of the children of Illinois;
15therefore, be it
16 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we encourage all school districts in this State to establish
19educational programs to inform parents about the dangers of
20serving alcohol to minors and the prohibition on serving

3 RESOLVED, That we encourage all parents and minor children
4in this State to participate in the educational programs
5established by school districts concerning the dangers of
6serving alcohol to minors; and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
8delivered to the Chairperson of the State Board of Education.
