Bill Title: Encourages all school districts in this State to establish educational programs to inform parents about the dangers of serving alcohol to minors and the prohibition on serving alcohol to minors and the punishment for a violation of the prohibition. Encourages all parents and minor children in this State to participate in the educational programs established by school districts concerning the dangers of serving alcohol to minors.

| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Alcohol is the most commonly used and abused drug | ||||||
| 3 | among youth in the United States; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Alcohol use by persons under the age of 21 is a | ||||||
| 5 | major public health problem; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Underage alcohol abuse is associated with school | ||||||
| 7 | problems, such as higher absence and poor or failing grades; | ||||||
| 8 | and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has | ||||||
| 10 | found that reducing underage drinking will require | ||||||
| 11 | community-based efforts to monitor the activities of youth and | ||||||
| 12 | decrease youth access to alcohol; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representative is committed | ||||||
| 14 | to the education and protection of the children of Illinois; | ||||||
| 15 | therefore, be it

| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 18 | we encourage all school districts in this State to establish | ||||||
| 19 | educational programs to inform parents about the dangers of | ||||||
| 20 | serving alcohol to minors and the prohibition on serving | ||||||

| 7 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
