HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The cost of prescription drugs has become
3prohibitive for many people in the United States; and
4 WHEREAS, The cost of prescription drugs continues to climb
5in the United States; and
6 WHEREAS, People who cannot afford the high cost of
7prescription drugs may have to make the difficult decision to
8forgo purchasing their medications in order to put food on
9their dinner table or to pay for their housing; and
10 WHEREAS, The profits of the pharmaceutical companies
11already measures in the billions and continues to rise; and
12 WHEREAS, The federal government has been able to use its
13purchasing power to reduce the price of prescription drugs
14through the Veterans Administration system; therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17urge the federal government to monitor the ever-increasing
18costs of prescription drugs and to take any necessary action to
19reduce the out-of-pocket expenses for those purchasing
20medications; and be it further

3Leader Mitch McConnell, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck

6of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
