HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The cost of prescription drugs has become
prohibitive for many people in the United States; and
WHEREAS, The cost of prescription drugs continues to climb
in the United States; and
WHEREAS, People who cannot afford the high cost of
prescription drugs may have to make the difficult decision to
forgo purchasing their medications in order to put food on
their dinner table or to pay for their housing; and
WHEREAS, The profits of the pharmaceutical companies
already measures in the billions and continues to rise; and
WHEREAS, The federal government has been able to use its
purchasing power to reduce the price of prescription drugs
through the Veterans Administration system; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
urge the federal government to monitor the ever-increasing
costs of prescription drugs and to take any necessary action to
reduce the out-of-pocket expenses for those purchasing
medications; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
delivered to President Donald Trump, U.S. Senate Majority
Leader Mitch McConnell, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck
Schumer, U.S. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, U.S. House of
Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and all members
of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
