2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mildred | ||||||
4 | L. DeShasor of Chicago, who passed away on January 29, 2011; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, She was born on January 1, 1919 in Troy, Alabama, | ||||||
7 | the daughter of Abraham and Lily DeShasor; she moved to Chicago | ||||||
8 | in 1931; she graduated from Douglas Elementary School and | ||||||
9 | Wendall Phillips High School; she attended DuPage College, | ||||||
10 | where she received her certification as a Radiological | ||||||
11 | Technologist; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, She was employed at LaRabeida Children's Hospital | ||||||
13 | for 30 years, retiring in 1980; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, She married George A. Davis in 1942; she was a | ||||||
15 | follower of Christ and converted to Catholicism at the age of | ||||||
16 | 34; she was baptized and confirmed at Holy Angels Catholic | ||||||
17 | Church in 1951; she later attended St. Joachim Church, where | ||||||
18 | she joined the Women's Guild and served on the executive board | ||||||
19 | of the Guild for 26 years; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, She was a member of the Chesterfield Community | ||||||
21 | Council in the early 60s, serving on the governing board for |

1 | over 32 years; she volunteered at Chicago State University for | ||||||
2 | 5 years; and she was the block president of 400 East 88th Place | ||||||
3 | for 18 years; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, She was a member of the Committee to organize the | ||||||
5 | Happy Action Seniors Club, where she held offices as | ||||||
6 | Vice-President, President, Treasurer, Program Chair, and | ||||||
7 | delegate to the Metro Seniors in Action; she was also a board | ||||||
8 | member and chair of the Outreach Committee of Metro Seniors; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her | ||||||
11 | siblings; her grandchildren, Leticicia Kees-Booker, Kenneth | ||||||
12 | Marshall, and Jeffry DeShasor; and her nephews, Arthur DeShasor | ||||||
13 | Jr. and Billy DeShasor; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Mildred DeShasor is survived by her children, | ||||||
15 | Marie Jenkins and Bruce Anthony "Tony" DeShasor; her | ||||||
16 | grandchildren, Lucious Kees Jr., Derrick Kees, Stephanie | ||||||
17 | (Victor) Peel, Michelle (Anthony) Graham, Bruce Andre | ||||||
18 | DeShasor, and Jermal DeShasor; numerous great-grandchildren | ||||||
19 | and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; her | ||||||
20 | cousins and other relatives; and her many friends; therefore, | ||||||
21 | be it

22 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

1 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
2 | we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of | ||||||
3 | Mildred DeShasor; and be it further
| ||||||
4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
5 | presented to the family of Mildred DeShasor as a symbol of our | ||||||
6 | sincere sympathy.
