HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Officer
Conrad Gary of Chicago, who was killed in the line of duty on
December 17, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Officer Gary grew up in suburban Oak Lawn and
graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2009; he served
over five years in the United States Air Force and spent much
of that time deployed in Germany; and
WHEREAS, Officer Gary wanted to make the city a better
place and joined the Chicago Police Department in March 2017;
at the Chicago Police Academy, he was a "go-to" person who
helped classmates; after his training, he was assigned to the
Calumet District and was becoming known as an officer who was
quick to provide backup to other officers; he had a sense of
duty that compelled him to help others; and
WHEREAS, Officer Gary was the beloved husband of Kelly
(Kubil), the cherished father of Tess, the loving son of
Michael and Kimberly (Evans), the dear brother of Michael Jr.
(Stephanie) and David Gary (Carrie), the adored son-in-law of
Daniel and Mary Kay Kubil, the caring grandson of Margaret and
Herbert Gary and Marilyn Evans, the great-grandson-in-law of

Dennis Dobbyn and Alice Kubil Gartland, the fond brother-in-law
of Katie (Ben) Warren, Kristy (Matt) Norris, Daniel (Jessica
Justiniano), Michael, and Kiera, the favorite uncle of Easton,
Olivia, Brendan, Owen, Tommy, Luke, and Ella, and the nephew
and cousin of many; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we mourn the passing of Office Conrad Gary and extend our
sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
and loved him; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Officer Gary as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
