Bill Title: Amends the Chicago School District Article of the School Code. Provides that, each fiscal year, the school board must expend a minimum of $500,000 on grants for training parents or guardians of students in the school district on the individualized education program process. Requires the training to include a description of the parent's or guardian's rights during the individualized education program process and must engage the parent or guardian in the process. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
534-18.60 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/34-18.60 new)
7 Sec. 34-18.60. Individualized education program training;
8grants. Each fiscal year, the board must expend a minimum of
9$500,000 on grants for training parents or guardians of
10students in the school district on the individualized education
11program process. This training must include a description of
12the parent's or guardian's rights during the individualized

14guardian in the process.
15 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16becoming law.
