Bill Title: Amends the Chicago School District Article of the School Code. Provides that, each fiscal year, the school board must expend a minimum of $500,000 on grants for training parents or guardians of students in the school district on the individualized education program process. Requires the training to include a description of the parent's or guardian's rights during the individualized education program process and must engage the parent or guardian in the process. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning education.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
34-18.60 as follows:
(105 ILCS 5/34-18.60 new)
Sec. 34-18.60. Individualized education program training;
grants. Each fiscal year, the board must expend a minimum of
$500,000 on grants for training parents or guardians of
students in the school district on the individualized education
program process. This training must include a description of
the parent's or guardian's rights during the individualized
education program process and must engage the parent or
guardian in the process.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
becoming law.
