Bill Title: Amends the Personnel Code. Provides that the Department of Central Management Services is not required to verify the State educator license of a teacher employed by the Department of Juvenile Justice if the license is verified by the State Board of Education. Provides that the provision shall become inoperative when the consent decree entered into on December 6, 2012 (as has been or may be corrected, amended, or modified in the action entitled R.J., et al. v. Mueller, case no. 12-cv-07289, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division) is no longer in force. Amends the Department of Juvenile Justice School District Article of the School Code. Provides that the salary of a teacher employed by the Department of Juvenile Justice shall be comparable to the salary of a teacher employed by a school district in the same geographical area in which the institution or facility is located. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Personnel Code is amended by adding Section
512g as follows:
6 (20 ILCS 415/12g new)
7 Sec. 12g. Department of Juvenile Justice; teachers.
8 (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the
9contrary, the Department of Central Management Services is not
10required to verify the State educator license of a teacher
11employed by the Department of Juvenile Justice if the license
12is verified by the State Board of Education.
13 (b) This Section shall become inoperative when the consent
14decree entered into on December 6, 2012 (as has been or may be
15corrected, amended, or modified in the action entitled R.J., et
16al. v. Mueller, case no. 12-cv-07289, in the United States
17District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern
18Division) is no longer in force.
19 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
