SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

Amends the State Finance Act. Provides that no salary shall be paid to a member of a State board or commission that meets part-time. Provides that a member of a State board or commission may, however, be reimbursed for travel and other expenses if so authorized by law. Effective July 1, 2012.

1 AN ACT concerning finance.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The State Finance Act is amended by adding
5Section 10.5 as follows:
6 (30 ILCS 105/10.5 new)
7 Sec. 10.5. Board and commission member salary payment.
8Beginning July 1, 2012, no salary shall be paid to a member of
9a State board or commission that meets part-time for serving on
10that board or commission. For purposes of this Section,
11"part-time" means less than 40 hours per week. A member of a
12State board or commission may, however, be reimbursed for
13travel and other expenses if so authorized by law. This Section
14does not prevent an employee of a board or commission from
15being paid a salary.
16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
172012.
