Bill Title: Amends the Township Code. Provides that each office of a township collector in Sangamon County shall cease upon the expiration of a township collector's term or, if vacant, on the effective date of the amendatory Act. Further provides that upon the cessation of an office of a township collector, the Sangamon County Treasurer assumes the duties of the township collector of that township. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing the
5heading of Article 50 and by adding Section 50-32 as follows:

TOWNSHIP OFFICERS ; DISCONTINUANCE

10 (60 ILCS 1/50-32 new)
11 Sec. 50-32. Sangamon County township collectors.
12 (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Article,
13the offices of township collector in Sangamon County are
14discontinued on January 1, 2022. On January 1, 2022, the
15Sangamon County Treasurer assumes the duties of each township
16collector in Sangamon County.
17 (b) If a township collector's office becomes vacant in
18Sangamon County before January 1, 2022, the vacancy may not be
19filled and the Sangamon County Treasurer shall assume the
20duties of that township collector.
21 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
