1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5 Section 12-802 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/12-802) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-802)
7 Sec. 12-802. Identification. Each school bus shall have the
8 the sign "SCHOOL BUS" painted on both the front and rear of the
9 bus as high as practicable in letters at least 8 inches high.
10 The vehicle weight and the vehicle maximum passenger capacity
11 recommended by the manufacturer of the bus, which shall be
12 based upon provision for 13 inches of seating space for each
13 passenger exclusive of the driver, shall be painted on the body
14 to the left of the service door in letters at least 2 inches
15 high. The name of the owner or the entity for which the school
16 bus is operated or both shall be painted in a contrasting color
17 on both sides, centered as high as practicable below the window
18 line, in letters at least 4 inches high. A school bus
19 identification number shall be painted as high as practicable
20 on both the front and rear of the bus in letters at least 4
21 inches high. Decals may be used instead of painting.
