AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3250
2 AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3250 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
4 "Section 5. The Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act is
5amended by adding Section 4.10 as follows:
6 (50 ILCS 105/4.10 new)
7 Sec. 4.10. Limitation; more than one public office.
8 (a) An elected official may not hold more than one public
9office simultaneously. This limitation applies regardless of
10whether the elected official receives compensation for a public
11office.
12 (b) As used in this Section:
13 "Elected official" means any person, other than a member of
14the General Assembly, who holds an office that is subject to
15election in accordance with the Election Code.
16 "Public office" means an office to which a person is

1elected or appointed to discharge a public duty for the State
2or any of its political subdivisions and an office which is
3established and the qualifications and duties are prescribed by
4statute. "Public office" does not include the General Assembly.
5 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
6becoming law.".
