AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3250
AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3250 by replacing
everything after the enacting clause with the following:
"Section 5. The Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act is
amended by adding Section 4.10 as follows:
(50 ILCS 105/4.10 new)
Sec. 4.10. Limitation; more than one public office.
(a) An elected official may not hold more than one public
office simultaneously. This limitation applies regardless of
whether the elected official receives compensation for a public
office.
(b) As used in this Section:
"Elected official" means any person, other than a member of
the General Assembly, who holds an office that is subject to
election in accordance with the Election Code.
"Public office" means an office to which a person is

elected or appointed to discharge a public duty for the State
or any of its political subdivisions and an office which is
established and the qualifications and duties are prescribed by
statute. "Public office" does not include the General Assembly.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
becoming law.".
