Bill Title: Creates the Local Volunteer Board Member Removal Act. Provides that the person or entity that appointed a member of a volunteer board or commission may remove that member for misconduct, official misconduct, or neglect of office. Provides that removal under the Act is in addition to any other method of removal provided by law. Defines terms. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Local
5Volunteer Board Member Removal Act.
6 Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
7 "Board" means a volunteer board or commission of a
8governing or administrative body of a unit of local
9government.
10 "Member" means an appointed member of a board serving
11without compensation, other than reimbursement for actual
12expenses. "Member" does not include an individual who is
13appointed to fill a vacancy on an elected board of a unit of
14local government.
15 Section 10. Removal of volunteer board members.
16 (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the person
17or entity that appointed a member of a board may remove that
18member for misconduct, official misconduct, or neglect of
19office.
20 (b) Removal under this Section is in addition to any other
21method of removal provided by law.
