Bill Title: Amends the State Finance Act. Provides that no salary or per diem shall be paid to a member of a State board or commission that meets part-time. Defines "part-time". Provides that a member of a State board or commission may, however, be reimbursed for actual travel and other expenses as authorized by law. Effective July 1, 2013.

1 | AN ACT concerning finance.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The State Finance Act is amended by adding | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
5 | Section 10.5 as follows:

6 | (30 ILCS 105/10.5 new) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
7 | Sec. 10.5. Board and commission member salary payment. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
8 | Beginning on July 1, 2013 and not withstanding any provision of | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
9 | law to the contrary, no salary or per diem shall be paid to a | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | member of a State board or commission that meets part-time for | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
11 | serving on that board or commission. For purposes of this | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
12 | Section, "part-time" means less than 40 hours per week. A | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
13 | member of a State board or commission may, however, be | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
14 | reimbursed for actual travel and other expenses if so | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
15 | authorized by law. This Section does not prevent an employee of | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
16 | a board or commission from being paid a salary.
