99D.22,
subsection
2,
paragraph
c,
Code

2014,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

c.
To
be
eligible
for
registration
as
an
Iowa
thoroughbred,
3
quarter
horse,
or
standardbred
stallion,
the
following
4
requirements
shall
be
met:
5
(1)
Stallion
stallion
residency
from
January
1
through
6
July
31
for
the
year
of
registration
shall
be
met
.
However,
7
horses
going
to
stud
for
the
first
year
shall
be
eligible
upon
8
registration
with
residency
to
continue
through
July
31.

(2)
At
least
fifty-one
percent
of
an
Iowa
registered
10
stallion
shall
be
owned
by
bona
fide
Iowa
residents.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
13
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

Code
section
99D.22,
concerning
native
horses
or
dogs,
is
15
amended
to
eliminate
the
requirement
that
at
least
51
percent
16
of
an
Iowa
registered
stallion
be
owned
by
Iowa
residents
for
17
purposes
of
determining
eligibility
for
registration
as
an
Iowa
18
thoroughbred,
quarter
horse,
or
standardbred
stallion.
Current
19
requirements
relative
to
stallion
residency
for
the
year
of
20
registration
are
not
changed
by
the
bill.
