House Resolution 119 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 119 BY KELLEY A Resolution honoring the Iowa Library for the Blind 1 and Physically Handicapped. 2 WHEREAS, in 1960 the Library of Congress established 3 the Iowa Library for the Blind, and for over five 4 decades the Iowa Library for the Blind and Physically 5 Handicapped has provided books and other materials in 6 alternative formats to Iowa residents who are unable to 7 read standard print materials; and 8 WHEREAS, the National Library Service for the Blind 9 and Physically Handicapped, a division of the Library 10 of Congress, has honored the Iowa Library for the Blind 11 and Physically Handicapped with an award to recognize 12 its 50th anniversary and its success in distributing 13 the new digital talking book players to its thousands 14 of patrons across Iowa; and 15 WHEREAS, the Iowa library, a division of the Iowa 16 Department for the Blind, has been hailed as one of the 17 best regional National Library Service libraries in the 18 country and holds the largest collection of Braille 19 titles in the world; NOW THEREFORE, 20 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 21 That the House of Representatives congratulates the 22 Iowa Department for the Blind, former director Karen 23 A.
