Section
1.
Section
68A.406,
Code
2021,
is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
4.
Notwithstanding
section
68A.103
or
any
3
other
provision
of
law
to
the
contrary,
this
section
shall
4
apply
to
candidates
and
political
committees
for
federal
5
office.

EXPLANATION
7
The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
8
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
the
placement
of
campaign
signs
by
10
candidates
for
federal
office.
The
bill
specifies
that
11
campaign
signs
placed
by
candidates
and
political
committees
12
for
federal
office
are
subject
to
the
provisions
of
the
Code
13
section
controlling
the
placement
of
such
signs.
14
By
operation
of
law,
a
person
who
willfully
violates
a
15
provision
of
the
bill
is
guilty
of
a
serious
misdemeanor.
A
16
serious
misdemeanor
is
punishable
by
confinement
for
no
more
17
than
one
year
and
a
fine
of
at
least
$430
but
not
more
than
18
$2,560.
