H.F. 106 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 602.10142 Legal instruction —— 1 practice of law. 2 Instruction of students in a course offered by a recognized 3 law school in this state shall constitute the practice of law, 4 except that instruction of students for up to two consecutive 5 years shall not constitute the practice of the law. 6 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect January 1, 7 2022. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill categorizes the instruction of students seeking a 12 law degree in the state of Iowa as the practice of law, except 13 that instruction of students for up to two consecutive years 14 shall not constitute the practice of law.
