TWENTY-EIGHTH LEGISLATURE, 2016
STATE OF HAWAII

SENATE RESOLUTION

 

 

requesting the auditor to conduct a fiscal audit of financial reports, special financial reports, and budgets for the past ten years for the campus center at the university of hawaii at hilo.

 

 

     WHEREAS, the Campus Center at the University of Hawaii at Hilo facilitates leadership, social, cultural, educational, and recreational development of the University's student population through co-curricular programs, activities, and services; and

 

     WHEREAS, questions have arisen as to how student fees are used to pay for certain services related to the Campus Center, as well as the use of student fees to pay for the salaries of certain Campus Center employees; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Student Union at the University of Hawaii at Hilo has requested copies of budget and financial reports for the past ten years that pertain to the Campus Center at the University of Hawaii at Hilo; and

 

     WHEREAS, despite the Student Union's request, the University of Hawaii at Hilo has not provided copies of the Campus Center's budget and financial reports; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2016, that the Auditor is requested to conduct a fiscal audit of financial reports, special financial reports, and budgets for the past ten years for the Campus Center at the University of Hawaii at Hilo; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Auditor is requested to submit a report to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2017, containing findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, resulting from the financial audit of the Campus Center at the University of Hawaii at Hilo; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Auditor, Chair of the Board of Regents of the University of Hawaii, President of the University of Hawaii, Chancellor of the University of Hawaii at Hilo, and President of the Student Union at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
