SENATE RESOLUTION

 

 

RECOGNIZING APRIL 17 THROUGH APRIL 23, 2022, AS VOLUNTEER WEEK HAWAII THROUGHOUT THE STATE.

 

 


     WHEREAS, National Volunteer Week was first designated by President Richard Nixon in 1974 to encourage community engagement through volunteer service; and

 

     WHEREAS, National Volunteer Week empowers volunteers and serves as a reminder that individuals and communities are at the center of social change; and

 

     WHEREAS, during National Volunteer Week, service projects are performed throughout the country, and volunteers are recognized for their commitment to service; and

 

     WHEREAS, National Volunteer Week will be observed from April 17-23, 2022; and

 

     WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii recognized and participated in National Volunteer Week in 2020 and 2021; and

 

     WHEREAS, ongoing recognition of Volunteer Week in Hawaii will serve as a call to action for volunteerism and community engagement; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2022, that this body recognizes April 17 through April 23, 2022, as Volunteer Week Hawaii throughout the State; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Governor, Mayor of the County of Hawaii, Mayor of the County of Maui, Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, and Mayor of the County of Kauai.
