SENATE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

requesting the office of primary care and rural health to facilitate discussions with key community health and social service organizations within west hawaii and major healthcare stakeholders in senate district 3 to address the health and wellness needs of the most vulnerable by aligning the goals and objectives of key organizations into one shared 2030 health vision plan.

 

 


     WHEREAS, the purpose of "One Shared Vision" is to establish closer professional interactions, collaborations, and educational opportunities across the various health, medical, specialty, social service, and environmental health professions to simultaneously improve public health; and

 

     WHEREAS, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) worldwide pandemic continues to burden the nation's health care systems; and

 

     WHEREAS, as of January 6, 2021, the State Department of Health reported 25,470 cases of COVID-19 and 299 deaths from COVID-19 statewide with 2,526 cases of COVID-19 being reported for the County of Hawaii; and

 

     WHEREAS, health is an extremely important issue especially as the SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to spread and possibly mutate; and

 

     WHEREAS, health issues require examination of the social determinants that involve continuous availability of resources and coordinated efforts at all levels; and

 

     WHEREAS, the establishment of a strong health network based in west Hawai‘i would allow west Hawai‘i to serve as a model for the rest of the State; and

    

     WHEREAS, this model will result in a west Hawai‘i plan looking nine years ahead by aligning the multiple agencies that influence health care, including preventative and primary health care, specialty care, and urgent and emergency care in west Hawai‘i; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2021, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Office of Primary Care and Rural Health is requested to facilitate discussions with key community health and social service organizations within west Hawai‘i and major healthcare stakeholders in Senate district 3 to address the health and wellness needs of the most vulnerable by aligning the goals and objectives of key organizations into a 2030 One Shared Health Vision Plan; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Office of Primary Care and Rural Health is requested to submit the 2030 One Shared Health Vision Plan for west Hawai‘i to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2022; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Health and Mayor of the County of Hawaii.
