A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Twenty-fourth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $35,420,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2019-2020 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the twenty-fourth senatorial district, as follows:

1.   Ahuimanu Elementary School

     Design and construction for ADA accessibility routes to connect lower and upper campuses.

     Design                           $80,000

     Construction                    $220,000

          Total funding                        $300,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

2.   Ben Parker Elementary School

     Construction for auwai drainage improvements.

     Construction                    $400,000

          Total funding                        $400,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

3.   Ben Parker Elementary School

     Design and construction for elevator to service buildings C, D, and H, walkway to connect buildings, and related improvements.

     Design                          $250,000

     Construction                    $250,000

          Total funding                        $500,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

4.   Castle High School

     Construction for front entrance widening improvements and security kiosk installation.

     Construction                    $400,000

          Total funding                        $400,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

5.   Castle High School

     Construction for new 21st century library.

     Construction                  $2,000,000

          Total funding                      $2,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

6.   Castle High School

     Construction for new administrative building.

     Construction                  $3,000,000

          Total funding                      $3,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

7.   Kaelepulu Elementary School

     Design, construction, and equipment for outdoor stage.

     Design                           $20,000

     Construction                    $500,000

     Equipment                       $100,000

          Total funding                        $620,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

8.   Kaelepulu Elementary School

     Design, construction, and equipment for school administration/library building.

     Design                        $1,680,000

     Construction                 $13,200,000

     Equipment                       $120,000

          Total funding                     $15,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

9.   Kaelepulu Elementary School

     Design, construction, and equipment for covered playcourt with music room adjacent to classroom building.

     Design                          $700,000

     Construction                  $3,300,000

     Equipment                     $4,000,000

          Total funding                      $8,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

10.  Kalaheo High School

     Design, construction, and equipment for renovation and/or expansion of the band room, ground and site improvements, equipment and appurtenances.

     Design                          $400,000

     Construction                  $1,600,000

     Equipment                       $100,000

          Total funding                      $2,100,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

11.  Kaneohe Elementary School

     Construction for net zero portable classroom.

     Construction                  $1,100,000

          Total funding                      $1,100,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

12.  Kaneohe Elementary School

     Construction for lower parking lot extension, basketball court relocation, and other lot improvements.

     Construction                    $600,000

          Total funding                        $600,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

13.  Kapunahala Elementary

     Construction for portable classroom.

     Construction                  $1,000,000

          Total funding                      $1,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

14.  King Intermediate School

     Construction for an all-weather track.

     Construction                    $400,000

          Total funding                        $400,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2022, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2019.
