A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to Hawaiian sandalwood.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $300,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2016-2017 for the department of land and natural resources to conduct an inventory survey of Hawaiian sandalwood, iliahi, that covers the historical and known range of Santalum paniculatum on the island of Hawaii to determine the abundance, health, and distribution of Hawaiian sandalwood that is currently subject to commercial harvest.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2016.
