TWENTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE, 2018
STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS SAFETY ACT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 

     SECTION 1.  Chapter 28, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding to part I a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§28-     Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, as amended; program.  Notwithstanding any provision of the law to the contrary, there is established in the department of the attorney general a program that shall be responsible for issuing credentials to qualified law enforcement officers, pursuant to the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004 (Public Law 108-277), codified at 18 U.S.C. section 926C, as amended."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
