A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part IV to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§302A-    Online reporting of student achievement and system accountability.  (a)  The department shall develop and implement an internet-based, publicly-accessible system for reporting indices of student achievement and system accountability.  Information required by this section shall be published on the publicly-accessible portion of the department's website and shall be organized and searchable by school name.  Information shall be reported and organized in a manner that allows a member of the public to view information by school and by information category, to compare reported information for each school, and to easily track the progress of individual schools and the department of education in general toward achieving the goal of educational accountability as outlined in section 302A-1004. 

     (b)  Information required to be reported pursuant to this section shall include:

     (1)  Student standardized test scores, reported anonymously;

     (2)  Data from the student assessment program required by section 302A-1004(a)(4);

     (3)  The comprehensive school profile or report card for each school as specified in section 302A-1004(a)(9);

     (4)  The evaluation of complex area superintendents and principals required by section 302A-1004(a)(10);

     (5)  The annual report to the legislature and the board of education required by section 302A-1004(b);

     (6)  The educational status report required by section 302A-1004(c); and

     (7)  The school-by-school expenditure reports required pursuant to section 302A-1004(d)."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
