HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

COMMENDING KEVIN MARK RATHBUN FOR HIS COMMITMENT TO COUNTRY, THE STATE, AND THE COMMUNITY.

 

 

 

     WHEREAS, the House of Representatives recognizes those individuals who have inspired others and have made meaningful contributions to our Nation, our State, and our communities; and

 

     WHEREAS, KEVIN MARK RATHBUN proudly served 27 years in the United States Navy aboard a ballistic missile submarine and fast attack submarines, among other deployments, retiring as a Command Master Chief Petty Officer in 2005; and

 

     WHEREAS, KEVIN MARK RATHBUN is a distinguished recipient of numerous awards, including five Navy Commendation Medals, four Navy Achievement Medals, and seven Good Conduct Medals, as well as five Battle Efficiency Awards, six Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, a Navy Unit Commendation, two Meritorious Unit Commendations, a Persian Gulf Deployment Ribbon, two Overseas Service Deployment Ribbons, the Marksmanship Expert Pistol Ribbon, and numerous Flag Level Commendations; and

 

     WHEREAS, in addition to his exemplary career in military service, KEVIN MARK RATHBUN has served as the president and on the Board of Directors of Ke Alohi Kai Community Association since 2009 and Ocean Pointe Residential Community Association since 2013, and is a board member and the chairperson of U.S. VETS, Inc.; and

 

     WHEREAS, KEVIN MARK RATHBUN was a board member of Ewa Neighborhood Board #23 from 2011 to 2015, and the chairperson from 2013 to 2015, and continues to serve on the Honolulu Neighborhood Commission as a member and second vice-chair since 2016; and

WHEREAS, KEVIN MARK RATHBUN has also worked as a Legislative House District Community Liaison and as a member and volunteer with the Ewa Beach School Community Council since 2005; and

 

     WHEREAS, KEVIN MARK RATHBUN's extensive contributions to the community also include serving as a board member of Poi Dogs and Popoki from 2015 to 2018; founder and board chairman of The First Tee of Hawaii since 2016; and board member and vice-president of Hoakalei Charities since 2016; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2019, that this body hereby commends and applauds KEVIN MARK RATHBUN for his service to his country and dedication to improving the community and the State of Hawaii, and extends to him its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
