HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

RECOGNIZING MAUI ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, INC., ON ITS 45^TH ANNIVERSARY.

 

 

     WHEREAS, the strength and spirit of all community associations are brought forth by the members of the community, who unselfishly commit their time and so willingly carry out the community’s programs; and

 

     WHEREAS, MAUI ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, INC., a private, nonprofit community action agency is blessed to have an abundance of outstanding leaders who have spearheaded countless activities and projects and have led the agency in providing a variety of services that positively affect the lives of over 60,000 people throughout the state; and

 

     WHEREAS, MAUI ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, INC., is celebrating its 45^th anniversary of service to the people of Maui County, having been chartered as a community action agency on March 22, 1965, and federally mandated under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964; and

 

     WHEREAS, MAUI ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, INC., has been recognized nationally with an award for excellence in community action: in 2008, Hawaii Business named MAUI ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, INC., one of the best places to work in the state within the large business category; and

 

     WHEREAS, MAUI ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, INC., is an outstanding example of the willingness that dedicated individuals who constantly strive to improve the quality of their communities by planning and working together through community-minded activities for the common objective of assisting their fellow citizens; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2010, that this body hereby recognizes MAUI ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, INC., for its strong ideals, commitment to community service, and promotion of civic pride in our island-state, and further congratulates its Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer Sananda Baz, employees, and volunteers for 45 years of helping others and changing lives.
