HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

COMMENDING CBS, AND THE PRODUCERS, CAST AND CREW OF HAWAII FIVE-0 FOR AN EXCELLENT AND SUCCESSFUL FIRST SEASON.

 

 

 


WHEREAS, having aired for 12 seasons on CBS from September 20, 1968, to April 4, 1980, the original HAWAII FIVE-0 is one of the longest continuous-running police series in American television history and breathing new life into this iconic series has been an exciting new venture for Hawaii's film and television industry; and

WHEREAS, in return for the unprecedented domestic and international multi-media launch campaign, HAWAII FIVE-0 was the most highly anticipated new show of the 2010 fall season and officially premiered in the United States of America on September 20, 2010 marking the 42nd anniversary of the original series premiere date; and

WHEREAS, HAWAII FIVE-0 is the number one new television series and a hit both domestically and internationally, licensed in over 200 territories worldwide; and

 

WHEREAS, the dynamically talented cast of HAWAII FIVE-0 includes Alex O'Loughlin as Steve McGarrett, Scott Caan as Danny "Danno" Williams, Daniel Dae Kim as Chin Ho Kelly, Grace Park as Kono Kalaukaua, and many familiar faces of Hawaii's local talent, has developed a global fan base for their revamped portrayals of Hawaii's elite crime-fighting task force; and 

 

WHEREAS, at the 37th People's Choice Awards on January 5, 2011, HAWAII FIVE-0 won "Favorite New TV Drama," beating out nine other contenders; and

 

     WHEREAS, Scott Caan was nominated for a 2011 Golden Globe Award for "Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series, or Motion Picture Made for Television" for his portrayal of New Jersey transplant, devoted father, and McGarrett's crime-fighting partner Detective Danny "Danno" Williams; and

 

     WHEREAS, HAWAII FIVE-0 is filmed entirely on-location in Hawaii and has showcased the incomparable beauty and spirit of the islands and its residents internationally; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2011, that this body hereby commends CBS, the producers, cast, and crew of HAWAII FIVE-0 for an excellent and successful first season, and extends its best wishes to HAWAII FIVE-0 for its long-term success.
