HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

urging the department of hawaiian home lands to lease available lands for COMMERCIAL or industrial uses to non-hawaiians at market rates.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands administers all "available land" in the State designated by the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act of 1920, as amended; and

 

     WHEREAS, commercial and industrial uses on available lands will promote economic activity and growth for the Hawaiian community; and

 

     WHEREAS, non-Hawaiian developers and businesses have shown interest in commercial and industrial leases on Hawaiian home lands; and

 

     WHEREAS, to promote economic growth and maintain a fair return on commercial and industrial leases, non-Hawaiian individuals, developers, and businesses should be allowed to lease available lands at market rates; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2010, the Senate concurring, that the Legislature urges the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands to lease available lands for commercial or industrial uses to non-Hawaiians at market rates; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Hawaiian Homes Commission.
